Zum Trekkingbeil HULTAN Mein erster Eindruck war: WOW! Und ein Lächeln zeigte sich auf meinem Gesicht! Hultan ist wirklich sehr kompakt und liegt fantastisch in der Hand. Die Qualität ist, wie erwartet bei einem Hultafors Produkt, sehr gut und die Gesamtkonstruktion macht einen stimmigen Eindruck. Angenehm ist das geringe Gewicht, gerade, wenn man das Beil an der Seite eines Rucksackes trägt, weil das Gewicht dann nicht zu stark auf eine Seite verlagert wird.
To the trekking hatchet HULTAN
My first impression was: WOW! And a smile appeared on my face! Hultan is really very compact and lies fantastically in the hand. The quality is, as you would expect from a Hultafors product, very good and the overall construction makes a good impression. The low weight is pleasant, especially if you carry the hatchet on the side of a backpack, because the weight is not shifted too much to one side.
Zum Griff
Der Griff aus amerikanischem und mit Leinöl behandeltem Hickory Holz ist handgerecht geschwungen und sorgt durch die breite gebogene Konstruktion am Ende des Griffes dafür, dass man nicht abrutscht beim Arbeiten. Super ist die schlanke Holzverarbeitung direkt am Beilkopf, so dass man bei feineren Arbeiten eine gute Führung des Beils hat. Aber auch das Hacken von Holz für das Lagerfeuer ist mit einer Grifflänge von 32,5 cm sehr gut zu schaffen, weil so noch eine gute Kraftübertragung auf das Holz möglich ist.
To the handle
The handle made of American hickory wood treated with linseed oil is curved to fit the hand and the wide curved construction at the end of the handle ensures that you don't slip when working. Super is the slim woodworking directly at the head of the axe, so that you have a good guidance of the axe for finer work. But also the chopping of wood for the campfire can be done very well with a handle length of 32,5 cm, because this way a good power transmission to the wood is still possible.
Die Lederscheide
Die Leiderscheide ist aus hochwertigem Leder gefertigt und auf der Rückseite mit einer Lasche versehen, die für Gürtelbreiten von max. 4 cm geeignet ist. Hier hätte ich mir eine breitere Abmaße gewünscht, weil Outdoorgürtel eher breiter getragen werden. Improvisierend kann man natürlich mit Paracord aushelfen… Der Kopf wird mit einem Lederband an der Scheide festgezogen. Die klassische Art der Lederscheide sieht nicht nur gut aus, sie fässt sich auch sehr schön an.
The leather sheath
The sheath is made of high quality leather and has a flap on the backside, which is suitable for belt widths of max. 4 cm. Here I would have wished for a wider size, because outdoor belts are worn rather wider. Improvising you can of course help out with Paracord... The head is tightened with a leather strap on the sheath. The classic type of leather sheath does not only look good, it also feels very nice.
Zum Kopf
Der Kopf des Beiles ist aus hochwertigem schwedischem Carbonstahl hergestellt, der mit einem wunderschönen „brut de forge“ Finish versehen ist. Das Gewicht des Kopfes wird mit 500 g angegeben. Die Länge des Schneideblattes ist 7,2 cm lang. Die Schneide hat eine konvexe Schneidkante und ist von Haus aus messerscharf, so dass es wunderbar auch für feinere Arbeiten am Holz genutzt werden kann. Zudem verliert die Schneide durch den Schliff nicht so schnell an Schärfe. Sehr vorteilhaft! Beim Bearbeiten von einem Holzstück für ein Schnitzprojekt war die gute, direkte und genaue Führigkeit des schlanken Beils extrem vom Vorteil. Aber auch das Spalten von Feuerholz für meinen Holzhobo war natürlich kein Problem. Das flache Ende des Kopfes ist perfekt, um das Beil als Hammer umzufunktionieren, um z.B. Heringe in den Boden zu schlagen beim Tarpaufbau.

When working on a piece of wood for a carving project, the good, direct and precise guidance of the slim axe was extremely advantageous.
But also splitting firewood for my wood hobo was of course no problem. The flat end of the head is perfect to use the axe as a hammer, e.g. to knock pegs into the ground when building up tarpaulins.
Fazit
Ich bin total begeistert von dem Hultan Trekkingbeil und werde noch viel Freude damit haben beim Bushcraften im Wald. Es hat meine Erwartungen voll und ganz bestätigt. Die praktische Abmaße und die sehr gute Führigkeit ist perfekt gemacht für Bushcrafter und Outdoorer, die ein handfestes Beil brauchen, aber auch auf Gewicht achten möchten. Die unglaubliche Schärfe des Hultan sorgt für Spaß an der Handhabung und die sehr hochwertige Lederscheide passt durch ihr Design perfekt zur klassischen Art des Beiles.
Insgesamt kann ich sagen, Du machst alles richtig, solltest Du Dich für das Hultan Beil von Hultafors entscheiden. Es wird Dir lange treue Dienste leisten.
Conclusion
I am totally enthusiastic about the Hultan trekking hatchet and will have a lot of fun with it while bushcrafting in the forest. It has fully confirmed my expectations. The practical size and the very good handling is perfect for bushcrafter and outdoorers who need a solid hatchet but also want to keep an eye on weight.
The unbelievable sharpness of the Hultan makes it fun to handle and the very high quality leather sheath fits perfectly with the classic style of a hatchet due to its design.
All in all, I can say that if you choose the Hultan axe from Hultafors, you will do everything right. It will serve you faithfully for a long time.
